Best winter trek in Uttarakhand , kalinda Khal trek


 The kalinda Khal trek is one of the most challenging and winter trek in Uttarakhand which is situated at 5940 meters above in the altitude it is connecting through Gangotri and Badrinath it is located at the peak of Himalayan gadwall as always in trekking if you reach the beginning point of the trek you can enjoy roaming around there so you should have an idea about the place and the peoples this is not for the beginners so ensure that you have to know about the mountaineering

This is the most challenging and winter trek in Uttarakhand it is start from the town of Gangotri pass this trek is for who love to do adventures this is a high altitude trek which is surrounded by the Himalayan peak and the natural lakes like Vasuki tal and arwa tal you can see the Himalayan glaciers from here is you will see the rocky paths while trek and it’s very dangerous you can visit here summer time because it’s surrounded by Himalayan glaciers so there is always a cold weather so always be prepared with your warm clothes and all your equipment’s which is important for you which helps you survive .

Note- This trek is for for those peoples who is familiar with mountains and who knows how risky it is this is not suitable for beginners.

Best time for kalinda Khal trekking expedition 

The best time for kalinda Khal trek is in between summers and monsoon from June to September .

Summers – In summers the weather is remain extremely enjoyable during summers with clear blue sky , beautiful view of the Himalayan peaks and cool breeze .

Monsoon – In monsoon the entire forests and valleys are green with the water on the leaves of every tree which looks very mesmerizing and the entire route looks magical the weather is satisfying at the monsoon time . 

Trekking ltinerary

Day 01 – Delhi -Gangotri (3100 meters , distance 495 kilometers in 13 hours)
You have to start your journey towards Gangotri early in the morning from Gangotri covers a distance of 490 kilometers and its will take 13 hours minimum to cover the 13 kilometers distance when you reach you can roaming around there and enjoy the shopping and views from there only if you reach early .

Day 2 – Gangotri – chirbasa – bhojwasa – (3791 meters altitude trek and 14 kilometers long distance which covered in 3 to 4 hours )
You will start your trek to bhojwasa after having your breakfast early in the morning at Gangotri after that the entire trail toward bhojwasa goes through there are thick forests which crosses the tree line of chirbasa all the while the river Bhagirathi accompanies you and your 




Day 3 – Gaumukh – tapovan (altitude 4463 meters and the distance of 13 kilometers at 4 hours)
The trek Gumukh goes through the pine forests and rocky terrains it’s a mouth of the glacier and the spot from the glacier . after a steep climb from gaumkh glacier there is a spot where river ganga flows at the high altitude.

Day 4 – tapovan – nandanvan – (altitude 4500 meters , trek 9 kilometers in 4 to 5 hours )
The route  from to nanadanvan is goes through the rocky ridges  icy sheets and layers in route 
Steep vertical ascents and calming streams and beautiful green valley . this is 3 kilometers long and 1.6 kilometers long.

Day 5 – nandanvan – Vasuki tal (altitude 4880 meters , Distance 6 kilometers in 4 hours )
On the way to Vasuki Tal, you will cross the chaturanga glacier and come across beautiful views of meru and bhrigupanth Vasuki tal is a small half-frozen lying at the base of mt. satopanth and mount Vasuki parvat

Day 6 – Vasuki tal – kharaPathar/Suralya Bamak (Highest altitude 4800 meters , trek 6 kilometers in 4 hours)
The way to khara patthar is filled with moraines and thick snow beds khara patthar too is encircled and yo will camp amoungst them.

Day 7 – khara patthar – sweta glacier (Highest Altitude 5480 meters , trek 6 kilometers in 4 to 5 kilometers)
A short distance trek you will reach the tough trek the altitude makes you the walk little bit tough after covering steep mountain tracks you will reach sweta glacier there are windy mountains and surrounded by the lofty peaks of gangotri group , Bhagirathi group river and shivling.

Day 8 Badrinath – joshimath – Rishikesh – Delhi 
The drive from Badrinath to delhi will be convenient if you at rishikesh .You can start the journey from rishikesh to delhi on the next day 
Note – this 8 days are so minimum for this trekking expendation from gngotri Badrinath it will required some buffer days if weather conditions are not good if there are bad weather on those days like heavy raining etc.
     


Travel tips for kalinda trek

• you must have the inner line permit which issued from the district forest officer and district magistrate (DM) , Uttarkashi and Uttarakhand.
• Always carry your identity card your passport size photographs whatever which shows your identity .
• You should have copy of your in line permit which is issued by the forest officer and district magistrate which is verified by district administration  of Chamoli and joshimath and also in the charge of ITBP camp in ghastoli 
• The guide and insurance of the trekker is mandatory
• Remember if you are a foreigner you must ensure that the minimum numbers of peoples of your group should be 4 which is issued in your permit
• Ensure that the nearest ATM is near harsil and further way there is no ATM at Gangotri so ensure that you have sufficient amount of cash in your pocket .
• In this trek you have to faced the problem with networks and there only two networks gonna work fine airtel and BSNL these two networks are strong networks in this route which helps you a lot in any dangerous situation 
• Get detailed information and guidelines for the trek from your guide or agency before going to the trek half of the information and miss information is dangerous for you and your group also .
